Week-end at Rasar State Park Washington

The first week-end of summer brought a mixture of sunshine and clouds here in the Pacific Northwest.  To make it more enjoyable was a trip to Rasar State Park, located on the north bank of the Skagit River, eight miles west of Concrete in Skagit County, Washington.

It was a perfect day to explore the pebbled shoreline along the river, and hike the many forested trails.  Feel like fishing, the Skagit River offers you endless hours enjoying this favorite past time. Take time to enjoy the prints of some of my favorite scenes captured during the week-end.

Landscape Photography Tip

Leading Lines

A Technique I use when looking to photograph a landscape scene is leading lines. Leading lines are natural geometrical shapes that your eyes are drawn to. If you notice in the three pictures, the pathway “leads” your eyes to an imaginary focal point in the distance. Sometimes the lines can lead to the object of your picture. Try this the next time you are out with your camera, and train your eyes to look for the leading lines.

Port of Skagit Nature Trail, Skagit County, Washington

Travel Location

The Port of Skagit Nature Trails is a hiker friendly (mostly flat) place to visit. Located near Skagit Regional Airport, you can park at Josh Wilson Road and Higgins Airport Way. The trail is a network of gravel and pavement, and is wheel chair accessible. It has a variety of plants, trees, and wet-lands along the way. Cycling, hiking, and jogging is a must in this nature wonderland, dogs however, must be on a lease.

Back Yard Photo Shoot

Somtimes finding a model for your photo shoot can be a problem for photographers. This was not the case for me last week-end. I had just gone outside and noticed several squirrels feeding in the backyard. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I grabbed my camera for perhaps a chance for a photo. As if on cue, this squirrel jumped on top of the post and struck a pose and held it while I took the shot.
