Somtimes a simple photograph of your favorite bouquet of flowers may not be as simple as it seems. For instance, lighting, composition, framing etc. are all thhings to consider. Let me show you some examples of how to improve your next flower photography shoot.
Use Natural Light as your light source
In this picture I am using a natural light source. In placing the flowers by the window, I can take full advantage of the natural day-light to bring out the beauty of the flowers.
Shallow Depth of Field
Shallow depth of field refers to the background of your picture not being as clear as the foreground, in this case the flowers. This technique with the subject (flowers) in focus in sharp focus draws your attention and makes it stand out.
Bounce Light or Reflector Light

In our examples above, the bounce light was created by placing a reflector (white board) directly opposite the light source(window) to "bounce" the light back and eliminate dark shadows. Be careful not to get the reflector in your picture.
Don't Forget the Details - Get Close
And finally, dont forget to get close for those all important details. By zooming in on a particular area you can produce some spectacular images that might have been over-looked
